Introducing/Integrating Cats

Post in here for help and information about integrating cats.
Cats are generally territorial and don't usually take well to the sudden appearance of an unknown cat in their territory. For the best chance of a successful outcome, always slowly introduce the cats to each other over a period of weeks. Never just plop a new cat in with other cats.

Intercat Problems or Concerns

This may or may not include aggression. Cats who used to get along, sometimes wind up developing problems. Often this occurs when a younger cat reaches the age of maturity, and tries to take over as "top cat", or from a case of "redirected aggression". These problems can be helped!

Litter Box Problems

Please note that many litter box problems are due to medical reasons, such as a UTI, diabetes or kidney problems, so never automatically assume a cat has a behavioral problem when litter box problems occur!

General Cat Behavior Questions

Why are the cats doing that? How do I train my cats? Post here about such matters and more.

Ack! A dog in the house!

Information and discussion about dogs with cats. W. V. Cats is not a dog behavior resource, but some members do have dogs along with cats. Ask here for advice from those "experts" on how it might go mixing dogs with cats. Share things about your dogs here.

Orphan Kittens, or Kittens under 12 weeks-old Concerns

This is only for questions or concerns about newborn or extremely young kittens. If you found orphan infant kittens who cannot eat on their own, be sure to read the announcement on emergency care for orphan kittens.

General Kitten Questions/Discussion

Kittens are NOT simply mini cats! They are babies. They are in a distinct developmental stage, having needs and concerns special to them.

Questions/Discussion on Caring for Cats

Grooming, dealing with fleas, cat environment needs and concerns, basic cat care, etc.

General information or news about cat related products

Post about discount codes for online stores selling cat items, or about particular products for cats. Tell about new or interesting items available for cats, dangerous cat toys, best loved cat toys or items, essentials items needed for cats, where to find a certain cat product, etc.

Outdoor shelters and enclosures for cats

Share information about outdoor houses, shelters and enclosures for cats, and your experiences with cats using them.

Dealing with lost, stray or feral cats (such as TNR, befriending frightened strays, rescue groups)

Many stray cats make wonderful pets, if you give them a chance. Most were someone's pet at one time, but wound up homeless for some reason, having gotten lost or dumped out of their former home. Don't ignore the strays! Someday it could be YOUR cat lost on the streets and needing help.
