Remember:  Ribbon, string and tinsel (icicles) are dangers to cats as when cats start chewing on them, the cats cannot spit them out so wind up swallowing the whole length.  This can led to a blockage or cutting of the intestines!  Keep all ribbon, string and other string like items away from cats.

Lilies are toxic to cats. Cats can die from kidney damage after eating even a small amount of a lily. Keep all lilies out the house! Don't put them on a high shelf- keep them out of the house!

How to Delete a Post
« on: May 27, 2009, 09:34:41 AM »

From time to time, I try to use the "quote" function and inevitably I mess up, like I did again today in reply to Mark's "poop on cell phone" post.  Is there a way after posting a reply that I can delete it???  I know how to modify.

I don't think you can delete a post unless you are an administrator.  Would you like me to do it for you?  The whole post or just part of it?

I have on MY screen - just to the right of the "modify" "button" where it says "remove".  If you don't have it on your screen, then you can't do it.

yeah that would be great if you would just get rid of the whole thing.  When I get home, I'm gonna have to practice this quote thing.  I know Mark gave me insructions, and I think you did too.  I have them written down on my desk...so I'll try again.

How about I call you when I get back home from Florida this week?  That would be great, Michelle.  Thanks.

Ok, sure, that would be fine.  Let me know when you get back and we'll set something up.

You have to have over 800 posts before you can delete your own posts.

I'm not sure what problem you are having using the "quote" function.  You simply press the word "quote", and that opens a reply window, with the other person's message included.  The other person's message has the quote tags around it:
Code: [Select]
[quote] and [/quote]
Then you type your reply under that.

If you had pushed the quote button and then decided you don't want the other person's post to show in your reply, simply delete what you don't want, then type your reply.

I've tried highlighting the sentence or phrase I want to quote, but somehow I screw up every time and end up with the whole post...I guess I'll just have to play with it awhile.  Usually, I can figure things out without problems.  Not sure why this is giving me fits.

When you are reading a post and want to answer, click on the word "quote" at the top left corner.  That is what I did to get your post show in this post of mine.

Next, if you want some sentences or words to not be showing in your reply:

1)  Put your cursor at the end of the sentence you don't want.  Then click- push on the cursor with your index finger.
2)  Push the "backspace" key on your keyboard.  That will "erase" anything it backs into.  Keeps pushing the backspace key until the all the words you don't want are gone.
3) Be sure that you still have the "end quote" code:  [/quote] at the end of the words you are quoting.
4) Then type your answer after the [/quote]

I saw in a post you quoted that you put your answer before the [/quote]. That is why what the other person said plus your answer wound up both being in the quote box.

[/quote]  Ok...here goes.  Let's see if I do it right.
