Remember:  Ribbon, string and tinsel (icicles) are dangers to cats as when cats start chewing on them, the cats cannot spit them out so wind up swallowing the whole length.  This can led to a blockage or cutting of the intestines!  Keep all ribbon, string and other string like items away from cats.

Lilies are toxic to cats. Cats can die from kidney damage after eating even a small amount of a lily. Keep all lilies out the house! Don't put them on a high shelf- keep them out of the house!

I added the recall information to the main website at:

http://wvcats.com/catnews/kroger-pet-food-recall-due-to-aflatoxin/

The food is being recalled due to Aflatoxin contamination. Aflatoxin poisoning is very serious and can result liver disease and death. There is no antidote for aflatoxicosis, but there is care and treatment. (Aflatoxin is a naturally-occurring toxic chemical by-product from the growth of the fungus Aspergillus flavus on corn and other crops.)

Since it almost happens that recalls get expanded to include other package sizes or "use by" dates, I recommend anyone using the Kroger Pet Pride Cat Food, Pet Pride Tasty Blend Poultry & Seafood Cat Food, Pet Pride Kitten Formula Food, Old Yeller Chunk Dog Food, Kroger Value Cat Food, Kroger Value Chunk Dog Food stop using it immediately, no matter what size, lot number or "use by" date.

Symptoms of aflatoxicosis include:

Lethargy/Sluggishness
Yellowish Eyes
Yellowish Gums
Lack of Interest in Food
Bloody Diarrhea
Severe Diarrhea

If your pet shows any of those symptoms, get the pet to the vet!

Anyone who has been using the Kroger brands pet foods really should not anyway, since they are full of corn and other fillers.  Those store brands are not good nutrition for cats or dogs.
