Remember:  Ribbon, string and tinsel (icicles) are dangers to cats as when cats start chewing on them, the cats cannot spit them out so wind up swallowing the whole length.  This can led to a blockage or cutting of the intestines!  Keep all ribbon, string and other string like items away from cats.

Lilies are toxic to cats. Cats can die from kidney damage after eating even a small amount of a lily. Keep all lilies out the house! Don't put them on a high shelf- keep them out of the house!

So, as I have finally managed to recover (mostly) from the flu, I can give everyone an update on Miss Vanya.

Overall, all is good.  Dr. Kate prescribed a 7 day course of antibiotics for Vanya's gingivitis, and we're on the last day of that today.  Vanya has been very good at taking the meds - as I have been able to crush the pill and mix it into her wet food.  She inhales her wet food, so she does not actually have the time to taste it!

Also, per Dr. Kate, I have added duralactin to her diet.  It came in yesterday's mail, and I mixed it into this morning's wet food.  Again, no problem.

The fun part will be trying to add glocousimine to Pippin's diet.  That will not be fun at all, as he gets really fussy over his food.

Glad you are mostly recovered!  :catwacko:

It is good that Vanya will take meds mixed in with her wet food.  Makes things easy!  I had a cat who never fell for that.  She was slow, picky eater so probably sniffed her food a lot and could detect minute traces of a "contamination" scent.

Mark, what form of glucosimine are you needing to give Pippin, and what kind of food does he eat?  The reason I ask is that I give Sven Cosequin, and it's flavored fish and chicken powder (in a capsule) that supposedly cats like that can just be sprinkled over their food.  That doesn't work for Sven, so I dissolve the powder in a little bit of warm water, then mix that into whatever small amount of wet food he's eating that day.  THAT works :catwink:

Sally:

Could you please tell me more!  He did not like the "unflavored" version, so I would like to give this a try.  What is the brand name?

Thanks ever so much!!!
