Remember:  Ribbon, string and tinsel (icicles) are dangers to cats as when cats start chewing on them, the cats cannot spit them out so wind up swallowing the whole length.  This can led to a blockage or cutting of the intestines!  Keep all ribbon, string and other string like items away from cats.

Lilies are toxic to cats. Cats can die from kidney damage after eating even a small amount of a lily. Keep all lilies out the house! Don't put them on a high shelf- keep them out of the house!

Lisa:

You and your family did a very good thing by taking care of Mr. Scruffy.

I'm sure he will hang out with your group - he knows where his next meal is coming from.

Good Morning.

I let Scruffy out mid morning on Saturday.  I waited until I knew the sun would stay out and things would warm up.  I'm sure he has enough hair to keep him warm during the day. The vet said he has enough to keep him warm all the time.  I can only hope he stopped pulling it out since he's back outside.  Now that he isn't sick any more, he may have been stressed out being inside and wanted out.  There are so many things to consider when trying to figure cats out.  We could discuss it all day, every day!

His attitude had gotten so much better the last few days.  He started acting like a cat so i knew he had gotten better.  Every morning when i went to feed him, he had gotten into something during the night (not in a bad way, I guess he was just curious). The last few times i went to feed him, he'd try to get IN the house.

Back to the big breakout.....I brought him food, left it to the side and opened the gatehouse door a crack.  I RAN upstairs (lol) to look out the window to watch what would happen.  Apparently he took his time eating.  I waited a few minutes at the window.  I was shocked he didn't run right out.  He slowly came out, sniffing EVERYTHING he walked by.  He was probably so glad to be able to actually smell. He walked all around the patio and went over by the shelters.  He jumped the fence and headed toward the yard we think he was born in.  There's a woman there who feeds ALL of the outside cats.  :slider_grouphugg: We could only assume he was going over there.

I think I know who his mother is.  She was sitting in the next yard looking in our direction for two days.  She may have had an idea he was with us.  We see her every once in a while.  She's been in our yard for a snack or two in the fall. Scruffy may have followed her here in the first place.  God brings them to me!

We haven't seen him since.  I'm sure he's fine.  If anyone else was caring for him, they may have taken him in..... especially since he's been gone for so many days. They may not want to take the chance of him 'disappearing' again.  He may have been back at night to sleep in one of our shelters. If he was, he was gone by the time we checked for him on Sun. afternoon.  We didn't look this am.
Thanks again for your help and words of encouragement.  :Trilly-bow: :slider_thankyou:
