Remember:  Ribbon, string and tinsel (icicles) are dangers to cats as when cats start chewing on them, the cats cannot spit them out so wind up swallowing the whole length.  This can led to a blockage or cutting of the intestines!  Keep all ribbon, string and other string like items away from cats.

Lilies are toxic to cats. Cats can die from kidney damage after eating even a small amount of a lily. Keep all lilies out the house! Don't put them on a high shelf- keep them out of the house!

Not getting notifications.....
« on: October 20, 2007, 02:02:39 PM »

For about three days now I have gotten no notifications that there are/were replies to threads I have posted in.  Am I the only one????

No Michelle, you're not the only one.  For the past few weeks I've just gotten a few here and there.  I'm getting used to it - but now that you mention it, I think I've only gotten one or two for the past week or so.

However, it's Murphy's Law that something will stop working when the "boss" is away.  At any rate, it's not serious.  Margaret has fixed these things before.  So we can wait!  I usually check the forum anyway so for me it doesn't matter that much.

I hope you have a good Sunday - the weather is supposed to be beautiful so I'm taking my new camera out.

Today I've gotten more notifications... maybe it was just a bug or something.  I will still have to check for new posts and will see if I've gotten all my notifications at that time.

I've noticed that the message announcing new posts seems to be about 12 hours late right now...

Hmm.  There must be some bug going on with the mail handling program.  I don't really have full control over that, but I will try to check it out.

Have you checked your spam/bulk folders of your email programs?  It could be your ISP's are filtering the notifications as spam.  That is what happened a lot with the ForumUp forum notifications for many people. I do know that with the ForumUp forums (where our forum used to be hosted), some email providers have totally blocked notifications from ForumUp forums- not even putting them in a spam folder.  Just never let them get delivered at all, with the customer not even knowing.  Hotmail blocks a lot, and so does AOL.  Verizon blocked emails from ForumUp, so I could never get notifications from our old forum on my email account with Verizon. I had to use Yahoo to get notifications. Those email providers consider many legitimate emails as spam when they come from a group such as a forum or newletter.  So maybe something like that is happening for our new forum?

I do know that Yahoo works well and does not block anything- not even total real spam such as all those Viagra emails!  But, Yahoo does put many things in one's spam/bulk folder.

I have been getting notifications, (on Yahoo) but since I have not been online for a while, I do not know if I got all of them.  I don't go by them much anyway. Rather, I just come to the forum and then click on "Show unread posts since last visit" link at the top.

But, of course I would like the notifications to work well.

If people had been getting them, then not, then yes again, that would point to a glitch in this forum's emailer.

I've been getting them all just fine now for the last two weeks or so..... seems the problem has been "fixed".  The issue was back in October while you were missing Margaret.

At least, I assume everyone is getting them again like I am....  :confusedquestionsmilie:

Mine are still on-again-off-again.  For the past few days I've been getting all or most of them.  Some days I don't get any.  It doesn't bother me as I check the forum when I have time regardless.
