Remember:  Ribbon, string and tinsel (icicles) are dangers to cats as when cats start chewing on them, the cats cannot spit them out so wind up swallowing the whole length.  This can led to a blockage or cutting of the intestines!  Keep all ribbon, string and other string like items away from cats.

Lilies are toxic to cats. Cats can die from kidney damage after eating even a small amount of a lily. Keep all lilies out the house! Don't put them on a high shelf- keep them out of the house!

No advice on this forum, (or any internet forum), can or is intended to replace an actual veterinary exam of your cat. Only a veterinarian examing a cat in person, and perhaps doing some tests, can diagnose a cat. It is also illegal to practice medicine over the internet.

This is not a forum run by veterinarians.

If you cannot afford vet care when a medical problem arises with your cat, you can apply for a special medical and veterinary credit card, called Care Credit. Find more information at their website at http://www.carecredit.com. People can get approval over the telephone the same day.

Some members answering questions might turn out to have supposed correctly what was wrong or not wrong with a cat. But they just as likely may have been wrong. No one can tell for sure what is wrong with a cat they can't even see. You must keep this in mind when considering all answers to your questions.

This forum is to be used to:

* help understand more about a particular illness, disease or medical situation.

* get some ideas of what could be wrong with a cat to have ideas on what to discuss with the cat's veterinarian.

* to share personal experiences one has had with a cat with the same diagnoses a member's cat has received.

This forum is NOT to be used for:

* attempting to get free "vet care" over the internet instead of taking a cat to a vet. No vets are giving answers here anyway. Even if there were, they wouldn't be able to give a diagnoses and advise on specific medical treatments for a specific cat without seeing the cat.

* Members responding to questions are not allowed to tell others to use a particular dosing of prescription medication for the other member's particular cat. Each cat is different and specific dosing, as well as which specific medication should be used, can only legally come from a vet who has examined the animal.

General information about prescription medications may be offered.
