Do not feed the kitten diet cat food. The diet food is not designed for the kitten's nutritional needs.
While special kitten food is best, regular Wellness canned and dry will do for an emergency. However, because a kitten is growing, he or she needs extra nutrition that simply is not in diet cat food.
The first year of a cat's life sets the pace for his future development, health, and well-being. It is essential that he eats a quality food developed for kittens.
Ideally, young kittens should be fed a quality canned food at least three or four times a day, during their first five to six months, with dry premium kitten food offered on a "free feeding" basis, although this may be a problem for "working parents."
Be sure to make readily available plenty of cool, fresh water if feeding mostly dry, and at least offer canned food mornings and evenings
Wellness makes both wet and dry kitten food.
